How a simple tool helped me conquer procrastination and build lasting habits.

Ever wonder why some habits stick while others fade away faster than a New Year’s resolution?

I’ve been on a quest to figure this out and thought I’d share my adventure with you.

Spoiler alert: it involves a little gadget that’s become my secret weapon in the battle against distractions.

The Habit Struggle is Real

I’ve always been fascinated by habits.

We like to think our actions are driven by conscious decisions and sheer willpower. But the truth is, nearly half of what we do every day is out of habit. So, if you want to take control of your life, you need to take control of your habits.

I started an experiment to list out six critical tasks I needed to complete daily. These were the most important things for work, home, and my well-being — basically anything that could move me forward in life. Sounds easy, right?

Well, not quite.

Hitting the Wall

Some habits were easier to build, but others were much harder. On average, it takes about 66 days to make any behavior automatic. I was on day 49 and finding myself stuck in a procrastination loop, mentally losing control.

You know how it goes — picking up the phone to check a to-do list, only to get sucked into notifications, social media, and random messages. My phone had become my biggest distraction.

A Game Changer

Just when I was about to throw in the towel, I discovered the “Key”.

A little notebook that stays at the back of my phone, serving as a constant reminder to focus on what matters. It’s helped me avoid distractions, be more intentional with my screen time, and boost my productivity.

It’s like having a personal assistant that doesn’t nag!

Physically writing things down and crossing them off gives me a sense of accomplishment and keeps me motivated. Plus, jotting down ideas on paper seems to make them stick better in my mind.
